Superior Court of California, County of Los Angeles

Colin Higgins Productions, Ltd. v. Paramount Pictures Corporation,
Case No. BC499179

Overview:

The above lawsuit has been filed in the Superior Court of California, County of Los Angeles. In general, the case involves claims that Paramount Pictures Corporation has not properly accounted for home video revenues in reporting and paying contingent compensation to certain entities and persons. Paramount Pictures Corporation denies all liability.

Plaintiffs' Counsel has requested certain information about contracts and communications with Paramount Pictures Corporation and related financial information. Those records will include, but may not be limited to, your contact information, all applicable contracts, profit participation statements, correspondence, audits, and other documents. The Court directed that notice be sent to you so that you could decide whether to authorize Paramount Pictures Corporation to disclose the documents and information to the attorneys for Plaintiffs and the proposed class, which will contain identifying information about you.

The Court has already entered a "Protective Order" in this matter which limits how the documents and information may be used and disclosed. In general, only the attorneys in this action, and their support staff and employees, will be able to access the documents and information, and it will not be made available to the public.

What were your options?

YOU MAY HAVE OBJECTED: If you did not want Paramount Pictures Corporation to produce the information and documents described above, if available, to Plaintiffs’ Counsel you must have objected on or before July 10, 2014. This deadline has now passed. You could have objected by indicating on the pre-addressed and postage-prepaid postcard you received with the notice of this class action that you did not consent. You must have mailed the postcard via U.S. Postal Service so that it was postmarked no later than July 10, 2014.

Alternatively, you could have communicated your objection on this website by filling out the information on the Objection Tab and submitting that information online. If you indicated your objection to the production of such information and documents, Paramount Pictures Corporation will not produce them unless the Court later directs Paramount Pictures Corporation to do so.

Note: If you received a notice for more than one studio and wished to object, you needed to respond to each notice by either mailing in the postcard provided by that studio or objecting via the website address indicated on that studio’s notice.

YOU MAY HAVE DONE NOTHING: If you did not communicate your objection to the production of such information and documents, it will be assumed that you agree to this disclosure and Paramount Pictures Corporation will provide the available information to Plaintiffs' Counsel.
